Spirits consumption continues a strong growth trend. Spirits sales continued to grow in 2009, with volume up 3.8% to 21.5 million cases in the United States. In 2009 the United States spirits industry surpassed projected growth rates totaling over $2.7 billion in total dollar sales. Within the spirits category, Vodka sales dominate with over one-third share.  Rum is the next largest category in terms of total volume.
